History of the KlangDrang Festival which brought out the KlangDrangOrchestra in 2006
KlangDrang 2003
2003 started the KlangDrang Festival for incredible music as a homage to the Alte Feuerwache Cologne which enables musical experiments beyond the mainstream since it's beginning in the 70ties.
At 16./17.7. two enthusiastic days with full program of mostly free improvisational music happened in the Alte Feuerwache exhibition hall. Extreme heat outside forced the sweat to run.
Participants:
Der Klan / Jeffrey Morgan + Dirk Wauters / Sila Blume / Mothers of Trash / Drums off Chaos / FIM / Jaruzelski / LYS / Duo2Blow / soundso / Novaya Insolvanya Orchestra / Thomas Witzmann / Axel Petry
and many musical guests which used the free spaces between the ensemble acts to create ad-hoc formations.
KlangDrang 2004
Musical symposium with nearly 30 participants in the cinema room of the Alte Feuerwache. We installed a quartet lottery - all names came into a hat. In every round four names were drawed out - and go!
KlangDrang 2005
10.6.: In more than three hours the four ensembles
F.I.M., soundso, Ensemble All-Tag and Doppelpluss presented their idea of free improvisation.
11.6.: Second day with a musical symposium in the cinema room of the Alte Feuerwache. This symposium was open for all which love free musical improvisation. Like 2004 we practiced the quartet lottery. Many opportunities for musicians to experiment, to research unusual musical structures and to be inspired by exceptional sound ideas.
